Showers

I live in a two story building with 19 girls and 7 showers. 19 to 7 sounds pretty good, until all of the showers decided to break. For the last three months at least four of the showers have had problems with water pressure, one downstairs is so hard that it hurts and three others are barely trickling (not even hard enough to get my hair all the way wet). I had just gotten resigned to the poor water pressure, since we have asked facilities to it three times and they haven't gotten around to, it when the hot water heater that heats four (the four that were actually working previously) of the seven showers broke. Then there were three broken showers, 19 girls, and a leak in the ceiling. Thankfully facilities took us seriously and worked on the water heater for two days straight (didn't bother with the water pressure). It was very exciting when it started working again. Not even five hours later the water heater that controls the three other showers broke and the pressure in the other showers started sputtering. Might I just say, that it is rather entertaining to watch 19 girls who do not have any working showers. (Thankfully I found a working shower to use today, and I can not even begin to describe how wonderful it was to actually have pressure)

11-12 Art Appreciation - should be easy - the teacher is fun (wonderful Australian accent) but strict

8-9:15 Math for Teachers - fun and easy just like the last one
9:30-10:20 Concepts of Wellness - I got the easy teacher :) - Class was canceled on the first day
11:15-12:40 Environmental Science - I am getting the feeling that the class will be more about politics than science - probably my hardest class
2-3:15 Intro to Linguistics - The teacher is very fun and makes the class sound good even though I have heard a lot of bad rumors

BibLit Esther, Ruth, Daniel - really excited about this one - we are going in deep to the books (first commentary I've had to get for a class :)) and we get to watch veggie tales :D

All in all it looks a lot better than last semester and pretty much all my teachers are ok about me skipping a week to go to Guatemala, although the one teacher I thought would be the most open wasn't to excited about the idea.

Only two classes today which is wonderful compared to yesterday. The only problem is I have to get up a lot earlier for them.
Physical Science 8-9:15 - Did not sound good at all but Abby has assured me that come Thursday, when the lab starts, the class will be much better.
Creative Drama 9:30-10:45 - This class is going to be amazing. I am so excited. It is essentially story telling and drama for elementary age and the teacher said we will be playing a lot of games in class. One of the games we played today was very similar to duck duck goose except you had to hit people with a rolled up newspaper. It was fun.
So Tuesdays and Thursdays are going to be nice

Classes today:
JCC 11-12:00 - I am an assistant for this class so it is my second time taking it and it looks like it will be pretty fun.
Dance Movement 12-1:05 - Extremely fun! started out with the chicken dance and a German dance that is going to take me a bit of practice to get.
American Civ. 1:15-2:15 - Nightmare waiting to happen
Child Development 2:30-3:20 - Very excited about it. Had a pop quiz just for fun today and I got half of the answers correct while most people only got a couple :).
Sermon on the Mount 5:15-8:15 - Not exactly what I was hoping for but it won't be that bad... we'll see.

Rather crazy day with no lunch break but I will survive. At least there are only two classes tomorrow. So far this looks like it will be a rather fun semester.

Started watching movies at 6:30 last night.
Stopped watching movies at 1:00 this morning.
Had a ton of fun.
Slept in till 9:00.
Skipped breakfast.
Now studying for finals while cruising the internet.
I feel a bit like a college student.

Wednesday's are normally nice because it is a sleep in day, there is chapel (with great music), and I only have two easy classes. Today was an amazing day though. I went to my first class and there was a sign on the door that said it was canceled, that was nice. I showed up for my second class but the teacher never showed up so I got lunch early. Then I went and checked my mail and I now have a big box of cookies, Thank you very much Junior Highers! What a wonderful day!

So apparently they have fire drills at 11 o' clock at night to make sure as many people as possible can get in on it. Then they keep you out of your room for another hour to make sure that every one responded to the drill. I have an important quiz at 7:45 in the morning. Not happy.

I also just realized I haven't blogged about Europe so here are some quick notes:
The Colosseum is absolutely amazing
McDonald's does not have good gelato
It is very cold on top of the Eiffel tower
The alps are gorgeous
People drive crazy in different countries
There are way to many pigeons in Venice
Most people do not speak English
Europeans have very good food (though Italy isn't that great)
I bought a lot of Chocolate

It's been raining on and off ever since I got up at 7. It's awesome! While I was in history class the thunder started. It was almost as loud as some of the thunder in Beijing. It was really cool.... I think it might've been the only thing keeping me awake in history to... I really really like this rain.

It's been a while since I last blogged.... Today was the first day of classes. I was kinda ready for it to actually start after the really long orientation. My English class sound a lot easier than I thought it would and I'm kinda excited about it now. The bible class that I was excited about sounds really hard now and we already have a paper due next week.... I was kinda sad about that.
I've found something really strange here. I am suddenly the person to ask for computer problems. Normally I'm asking for help and my roommate and my friend have both asked me for help already.... it feels kinda strange....
All in all it was a pretty good first day of school...
I have to get up really early in the morning so I'm going to bed now...

Last day of Work

At 9:00 ages 2-prek have chapel. Today at 9 I had my class (only 5 kids at that time) inside our room by myself waiting to go out the door. I found out just how loud the nursery school fire alarm is.... it also flashes bright lights at the same time.... It was weird. I was calm. I took the kids to join the other class and adults, we went outside and sat on the curb and 2 minutes later Dave came out and told us it was all safe. We walked the kids to chapel and I sat down and suddenly realized it was my turn to do chapel, I had no idea what to say, and my heart was beating way to fast.... Then we found out one of the three year olds pressed the button and set it off.
On the upside one of my kids said something really funny... We were talking about dads today because of Father's day and we asked the kids what their dads did and this kid:
Said "My Dad burps" I thought he said works so I asked him what he said and he fell back on a bean bag grinning and said "My Dad burps!"

I think this is the longest post I have ever written... I'm tired and rambling

Yesterday Trinity staff cooked the nursery school staff omelettes. They also gave us cinnamon rolls and fresh fruit (some of the best strawberries I have ever tasted). Today some parents brought donuts, bagels, a pie, grapes, chocolate covered strawberries, muffins, and a cookie/scone type thing that was absolutely delicious! I love teacher appreciation week.

I am so exhausted but I am finally done.... The last two weeks have been chaotic with the lifeguard class and then the last theree days at work were really tough... But I did it!!! I think I might actually get more than 7 or 8 hours of sleep tonight.....

I was told this morning that even though my SAT was 20 points shy of the minimum I'm being considered for the presidential scholarship, which is a lot of money.... So tomorrow morning I'm going to Fresno for a lunch for the kids being considered for the pres. scholarship. I still can't seem to get my mind around it and the fact I got a job... I don't think that I have stopped smiling since then...

Stupid, stupid pregnant dog! We got home tonight and the dogs weren't by the door so we called them and they never came. Walked down to the terrace and I could hear tags jingling. We were calling and calling and then we hear this splash. The creek is a bit high right now and go farely strong and the only thought going through my head is Comet can't swim and Star is to fat. Finally they got to the other side and I could hear crying and it didn't sound like Comet. As they were coming up the hill one of them was having a problem (normally Comet has problems climbing). But then Comet bounces right by me and shakes all over. I then get to see Star collapse and nearly fall down the hill. Stupid dog! By the way she's acting I'd say we should have puppies any day and she just nearly killed them all looking for a better den! Grrrr....

I seem to have lost my free time again.
Star is having puppies in the next two weeks. There should be a lot of them. I'm excited.
I'm getting my lifeguard (would you call it a license?) sometime next month. If you would like to get yours you can join me. It is after school hours and I don't know anyone in the class.
I can't wait till my school is done.
I've applied to FPU and CSU Stanislaus. I'm already scheming on how arrange my classes so I can drive home every Wednesday if I go to Fresno (I've been told I'm not being very realistic about this)
Now I am going to attemt to find that time I lost.....

The pool was 90 degrees today. It was like a sauna and they expected us to swim laps. It got to the point that the instructor went and pulled a huge pipe out of a closet and told us if we would tread water for three minutes he would turn it on. It didn't help the rest of the pool much but that half was a lot cooler.
